My laboratory is engaged in two research areas: 1) the preparation of novel, amino-acid derived lipids for diverse applications including experimental antibiotics for human, animal, and plant diseases, and for imbuing lipid nanoparticles with desirable properties for drug delivery; and 2), the synthesis of perylene dyes for biophotonic and photo-harvesting applications. While investigating these topics, my group and I are intensely interested in student training at all levels.
